A fifth wheel got clipped on a freeway merge and came to our Yorba Linda shop sitting slightly sideways, with a tweaked frame and a slide-out that no longer sealed. It left with the frame measured and brought back into spec, and the slide closing square the way it should.

How do you know a frame is actually bent?

The tells are subtle. A slide that used to seal now gaps at one corner, a door that binds, a body line that no longer runs straight, and uneven tire wear or tracking on the road.

The owner noticed the slide would not seal. That was the frame talking.

Why is a bent RV frame different from a car frame?

The frame carries a long, heavy, laminated body. A small tweak at the impact point shows up far away as a body that racks and openings that no longer line up. You cannot eyeball it straight. It has to be measured.

What did the repair take?

Why does chasing the slide alone never work?

You can adjust a slide all day, but if the opening is racked, it will never seal. The frame has to be right first, then the slide follows.
